Background Information

The Local 478 Training Center offers an array of courses on subjects ranging from plan reading and jobsite layout to the use of global positioning satellites for members who come from all over Connecticut and surrounding states

The 13,000 square-foot facility in Meriden was built in 1981. Since its inception Local 478 Training has expanded adding two classrooms, a 17 station computer lab, a 4000sq. ft. HAZMAT and Safety building and a 36 acre satellite training site.

Local 478 also has a variety of other training tools such as our crane simulator. Our simulator enables our apprentices to bridge the gap between classroom learning and hands-on training. Another integral part of our training program is our online learning management system (LMS). Our online training aid provides online courses, practice quizzes and transcript history for all training completed at Local 478.

In addition to our many course offerings and training tools, Local 478 is proud to provide some of the most skilled instructors in the industry, imparting our members with a wealth of valuable field and classroom experience.
