*ONLY OPEN TO CURRENT FULL-TIME ANNUALLY PAID PARKS EMPLOYEES*The New York City Parks Workforce Development unit partners with various city agencies to create employment programs for all New Yorkers. Our signature program, the Parks Opportunity Program (POP), provides innovative career assistance to Parks' transitional employment trainees, who gain paid work experience cleaning and greening parks throughout New York City.Major Responsibilities- Under general direction, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, provide one-on-one career coaching to POP trainees and other clients of the Agencys employment programs.- Facilitate coaching workshops focused on job search, professionalism and positive work habits.- Meet with trainees individually to support and guide their job search in coordination with the trainees short- and long-term goals.- Connect trainees to full-time, year-round employment opportunities in a variety of sectors.- Update resumes for program trainees to align with specific employment opportunities and leads.- Coach trainees on articulating their work history and skills in a professional setting.- Coach trainees on professionalism and positive work habits at Parks sites.- Use database to document trainees progress, participation, and attendance; and to record outreach, case planning, referral and related notes. - Develop hiring partnerships with private and public sector employers with support from POP supervision.Work Location: Passerelle Building, QueensHow to Apply: Go to cityjobs.nyc.gov and search for Job ID# 787759.All applicants must apply via cityjobs.nyc.gov. Requirements
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or 2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or 3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above. Experienced (non-manager)
