This senior-level role within the Clinical Informatics team, part of the Digital Transformation & Innovation group, serves as a key leader in advancing interoperability, data exchange, and clinical workflow optimization across the organization. The position is responsible for the strategy, delivery, and support of data integration and reporting solutions with a primary focus on MEDITECH Expanse, FHIR standards, APIs, and healthcare interoperability initiatives.
The ideal candidate combines strong clinical experience, proven leadership and stakeholder management capabilities, and deep knowledge of FHIR-based data exchange to bridge operational, clinical, and technical teams. This individual will serve as the Clinical Informatics subject matter expert for Expanse interoperability functionality, ensuring technology solutions align with clinical workflows, organizational objectives, and patient care needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the Clinical Informatics leader and subject matter expert for interoperability and data exchange initiatives across MEDITECH Expanse and FHIR-enabled platforms.
- Partner with executive, operational, clinical, and technical stakeholders to develop and execute interoperability strategies that support organizational goals.
- Act as the primary business owner and liaison between Clinical Informatics, IT, vendor partners, and Expanse teams for interoperability and integration initiatives.
- Lead the definition, prioritization, and governance of FHIR-based interoperability requirements and API solutions.
- Collaborate with clinical leaders and end users to assess workflows, identify opportunities for improvement, and translate business needs into scalable technology solutions.
- Lead data definition, acquisition, analysis, and reporting efforts to support clinical, operational, and strategic decision-making.
- Facilitate multidisciplinary workgroups and provide leadership through the lifecycle of interoperability projects, from requirements gathering through implementation and optimization.
- Support testing, validation, deployment, and adoption of new functionality while ensuring alignment with clinical and operational workflows.
- Present recommendations, findings, and project updates to leadership and diverse stakeholder groups.
- Mentor team members and provide guidance on interoperability best practices, standards, and emerging healthcare technologies.
Experience & Education
- Bachelor's degree required; healthcare, nursing, informatics, health information management, or related field preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education.
- Master's degree in Nursing Informatics, Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, or related discipline preferred.
- 5-10 years of Clinical Informatics, Healthcare IT, Interoperability, or related healthcare technology experience required.
- Strong understanding of FHIR, HL7, APIs, healthcare interoperability standards, and data exchange frameworks required.
- Clinical experience as an RN, therapist, pharmacist, or other licensed healthcare professional strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional projects, influencing stakeholders, and driving organizational change initiatives.
- Experience with healthcare interoperability solutions strongly preferred.
- Experience analyzing clinical workflows, identifying gaps, and recommending technology-enabled process improvements.
- Strong data analysis, reporting, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
- Hybrid position based in Nashville, Tennessee.
