Information Security Analyst
Our client, a Texas state agency focused on public health and research, is seeking a Network Security Analyst 1 in Austin, Texas. In this position, you will support the organization’s day-to-day information security and cybersecurity program, assisting with security operations, risk awareness, policy implementation, monitoring, and incident related activities under the guidance of senior information security leadership.
Major duties
- Assist with daily information security and cybersecurity activities, following established policies, procedures, and security standards.
- Support security monitoring, vulnerability assessment, incident triage, and other basic security operations under supervision.
- Assist with information security policy implementation, risk evaluation, regulatory requirements, and compliance-related activities.
- Document security-related work and communicate findings or technical information clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Complete assigned security projects within established timeframes while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
What are we looking for?
- 2 years of foundational knowledge of cybersecurity principles and concepts, including security policies, risk evaluation, and regulatory requirements.
- 1 year of experience following established procedures related to policy implementation, risk awareness, and basic security operations.
- 1 year of familiarity with the Texas Cybersecurity Framework, Texas Administrative Code Chapter 202 Information Security Standards, or similar public-sector cybersecurity standards.
- Preferred exposure to cloud technologies and cloud security concepts across SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS environments, as well as hands-on training or labs involving vulnerability scanning, incident response, or security monitoring.
- Preferred knowledge of computer systems, mainstream operating systems, networks, common applications, and basic IT security concepts, with the ability to learn and use security tools and communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
