Civil Service Title- Assistant Civil Engineer* IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION CANDIDATE MUST BE SERVING PERMANENTLY IN THE TITLE OR BE REACHABLE ON THE OPEN-COMPETITIVE LIST EXAM # 7006Serves as Assistant Civil Engineer in the Bridge Management Section of the Bureau of Bridge Maintenance, Inspection and Operations, Division of Bridges. The Division is responsible for maintaining the safety, reliability, and long-term serviceability of New York City's bridge infrastructure. Within the Division, Bridge Management plays a central role connecting inspection findings, load rating results, asset inventory data, deterioration modeling, and capital planning to identify structures requiring rehabilitation, replacement, posting, restrictions, or inclusion in future capital programs.The selected candidate, under supervision, will perform complex analysis of bridge load rating calculations in accordance with load rating policies, procedures and Federal and State load rating directives. Perform the required structural analysis for the City-Owned Bridges to ensure their safety against the heavy weight Trucks and Cranes. Performs field inspection of bridges to assess the condition and to obtain information for project scoping as part of Request for Proposals (RFP) for the procurement of design Consultants. Reviewing budgetary plan for bridges rehabilitation projects.
