Senior Financial Analyst (Financial Analyst II)

The Team You Will Be Joining
Our client is Texas’s premier state public health agency, dedicated to improving community health, safety, and well-being. The agency ensures the fair and effective stewardship of public resources, managing vital health grants and statewide emergency response initiatives.
Major Duties
- Conduct highly complex financial monitoring, investigations, and reviews of government, educational, non-profit, and commercial entities contracted with the state.
- Examine accounting records, financial statements, internal control systems, and management practices to verify compliance with federal and state regulations, agency policies, and contract provisions.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to contractors and internal program staff regarding grant compliance, cost allowability, and financial system adequacy.
- Lead monitoring efforts, oversee the work of team members, and effectively communicate findings, observations, and recommendations to key stakeholders.
- Prepare comprehensive formal audit reports, financial summaries, and correspondence detailing review results and actionable steps.
What are we looking for?
- Hands-on professional background in financial auditing.
- Superior proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects, review the work of others, and exercise independent judgment under minimal supervision.
- Strong written and oral communication skills for drafting formal reports and presenting complex findings.
- Ability to interpret statutes, rules, regulations, and complex numerical datasets.
- Prior experience with Texas state government operations or state/federal grant management (preferred).
- Hands-on experience working with auditing software, specifically TeamMate (preferred).
Exciting Opportunity Details
- Rate: $52.00/hour
- Length of Engagement: 6 month assignment potential for future extensions
- Days/Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid)
