Director of Legislative Affairs

Under the direction of the Associate Commissioner of Intergovernmental Affairs, the Director of Legislative Affairs will be responsible for coordinating DCWPs legislative portfolio, directing the legislative affairs team, and maintaining relationships with relevant stakeholders. This includes, but is not limited to: - Supervising subordinate staff to conduct and interpret research/data, monitor legislation, and propose legislation impacting issues around consumer protection, worker protection, and financial empowerment in New York City;- Coordinating with DCWPs divisional leadership on research efforts, including data analysis, legislation and advocacy;- Leading DCWPs participation in public hearings before legislative or regulatory bodies, including drafting public testimony that leverages data analysis to outline the agencys policy positions;- Liaising with the Mayors Office, including the offices for city, state, and federal legislative affairs, to advance proactive legislation and policy proposals;- Establishing and building relationships with key government agencies, research/data and advocacy organizations, and other social science experts related to DCWPs legislative agenda;- Drafting reports and maintaining records/data, as well as managing other special projects or tasks, as needed;- Directing DCWPs efforts to request, gather, and transcribe public comments on proposed DCWP rules.
